Main Theme The role of science parks in accelerating knowledge economy growth – contrasts between emerging and more developed economies. What is meant by 'knowledge economy'? The more frequent use of reference to knowledge or knowledge-based economy, is used in the context of the use of knowledge to produce economic benefits. The term is often used when describing today's transitional global economy and our inter-connected world, and in the context of the need of 'know-how' resources being more critical than other economic resources. That context usually includes the need to embrace industry and private sector knowledge management with related public policy. An important aspect of knowledge economy thinking is wisdom. Wisdom invokes questions of judgement, ethics, experience and intuition, all of which are necessary for the best application of knowledge. Sub-themes Abbreviation: STP [Science & Technology Park]
