Welcome The Innovation Hub is honoured to host this 25th IASP Conference under the main theme of ... The role of science parks in accelerating knowledge economy growth – contrasts between emerging and more developed economies. In addition, we are delighted with the IASP's decision to establish an IASP Africa Division during the IASP's 2008 General Assembly in Johannesburg. Africa is experiencing positive growth which requires stability for it to redress considerable infrastructure legacies. NePAD has been formulated to consolidate and mobilise this positive sentiment into viable support of this process. Accelerating growth and enabling the removal of binding constraints becomes a critical set of tasks. The 25th IASP World Conference will contribute to this agenda by raising awareness of the role of science & technology parks in the economy. The Conference will also further the understanding of the innovation chasm, and share best practices. South Africa was visited by more than six million tourists in 2006. Our country is often regarded as a 'melting pot of cultures' and it was recently voted the world's fifth best tourist destination. The pre- and post-conference tours for the 25th IASP World Conference 2008 will include options such as the Winelands, the Garden Route, and our country's game and nature reserves. Day trip options, during the Conference for accompanying persons, will include heritage sites such as the Soweto home of Nelson Mandela, and Maropeng at South Africa's Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site. So diarise September 2008 to participate in this outcome-driven Conference, and to enjoy our wonderful country, weather, and hospitality!
